Here's your chance to show off your trombone desktop wallpaper. I've attached the one I am using now.

That's a nice picture. I usually use pictures that I've taken of my own horns. Is this your horn? I wonder what it is.

No it's not my horn. I wonder what it is too. It's definitely an interesting looking horn.

Does that look like a sackbut bell?
Your mileage may vary.

I thought the same thing. It's sort of in between late sackbut and early trombone, I reckon.

It very much looks like, to me, a "modern" small bore trombone that has had its bell snipped and folded.

From the bracework it looks like a Reynolds. The bell has been trimmed to a diameter that might have been used in Beethoven's day. I have a Holton Collegiate whose bell was trimmed to look like a Sackbutt. Maybe I'll get a pic of it some day (if I can find somehwere to photograph it). I use it with an antique King slide to make a "fake-butt".

I've been anxiously waiting for Sliphorn or MrPillow to post some of their beauties... I mean, if I had shots like they got, surely one or two of them would make on PC as some wall paper...

I'm not a photographer, and my trombones are utilitarian (but lovable). This Euph of mine has some style.

I've never been one to use trombone pictures as wallpapers, but I always thought this picture was pretty cool. Taken with my phone none-the-less....

This picture is amazingly cool. I may poach it to use for my desktop. Currently, I'm using a picture of Scott Pilgrim for reasons I don't remember. My screen is 13", so I just about never see the wallpaper.

A nice picture from a few years ago after the first rough build of this bass..

Makes a nice background for a room where you you need a light, white view on the screen. That white flannel worked nicely on the bench.

Re: Trombone Wallpaper

Postby Stewbones43 » Thu Jun 30, 2016 1:56 pm

Hi,
The trombone in the first posting on this topic looks to me like a late B&H/Besson Regent/Westminster. Towards the end of the run, Before they all became Besson 600s, they changed from the standard 3 piece brace to a 1 piece tubular one with the end swaged out at one side. It gave the instrument a "more modern" look and, as it was a range of student trombones, it gave the repair tech's a nice problem for repairing trombones where none of the braces were adjustable!
The bell looks to have been cut down to make a "fakebutt" but, if it is a B&H/Besson, it should still have the serial number(6 digits) on the underside of the bell, just in front of the main bell stay.
The bore could be either 0.487in or 0.500in if it was the later Regent II model.

Just checking the picture again and it seems that the upper hand brace has in fact been sleeved!

Cheers
