Humperdinck has pretty much disappeared from the repertoire over here. That is a shame.

The opera "Hansel und Gretl" is often trotted out for Childrens' Concerts. The Prelude has some tasty trombone writing. I've played it on two regular concerts: once on 2nd and once on bass (who has a really interesting part).

I thought the instrumentation of the quintet was interesting: Tenor/Tenor/Bass/Contra.
