Benny Goodman at the "Aurex Jazz Festival" on Sep.3,1980 at Budokan, Tokyo, Japan. A good exciting solo from Dick Nash at 2.15.
A great line-up with Benny Goodman (cl), Teddy Wilson (p), Tony Terran (tp), Dick Nash (tb), Eddie Duran (g), Al Obidenski (b) and John Markham (dr).

Thanks for sharing Grah. Really enjoyed it. Never realized that Dick Nash used such a low mouthpiece placement. Not that it matters he played great!

I'm sure this one was posted along the way somewhere, but it was new to me. Incredible balance from JJ. And super bad rhythm section.

I agree with your rating of the rhythm section. I was lucky enough to see Victor Feldman in London several times when he was playing with Ronny Scott and before he moved to America. Great piano player, vibes and also drums.

Eastman Trombone Studio group recital:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khboEy1D7Tc&t=17m15s
Timestamp is for the Creston Fantasy, which seems to have become a rarity in recitals recently. The Creston is preceded by a student playing a very nice, vocal sound with which I'm not familiar. Afterwards, another student plays the Bourgeois Concerto, followed by a trombone quartet with which I'm also not familiar.

This is from the Aucktet Trombone day held in the weekend. It included the premiere performance of "Shake City" for massed brass choir, composed by bass trombonist Pablo Ruiz Henao. Pablo can be seen playing contrabass trombone.
The day was organised by Aucktet (as in Auckland-octet). It was a great opportunity for students to mix and play with pro players.
http://youtu.be/JrdIfdDC_kE
(I'm one of the masses in the choir. You can mainly see the top of my head.)

Every so often I like to bring this topic back to its original intention, which was for "The great trombone players from all styles of music: Classical, Jazz, Latin, Ska; you name it!"
Here is Dicky Wells, for me one of the inspirational jazz trombonists of my youth, although he was gone long before I picked up a horn. This is my kind of "Hot" jazz for sure! And just look at the other greats in the band, including one from the real Hot Club.

The latest video of Slidin' Selena playing and singing with the Dixieland Crackerjacks at the 2016 Django Reinhardt Jazz Festival in Belgium:

An interesting vintage Dixieland ensemble sound with the bass sax, and notice how the string bass player sensibly does not play.

Great to hear from you Jacob. I generally just single tongue and slur everything. I may employ a soft double for tempos where the 8th notes are above 320 bpm.

Jimmy Cleveland is a jazz trombone player that you do not hear much about these days, even on this forum. He has been a favourite of mine since the mid 1950s when I had the LP "Introducing Jimmy Cleveland and his all stars" with these tunes - which I also have on CD. :
"You Don't Know What Love Is":
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qA6NdssXZjE
This arrangement of "My One And Only Love" with the melody line running right up through the band is one I copied many moons ago for a big band arrangement:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqkIv_InQ9E
The up-tempo tune "Hear Ye!, Hear Ye!"
And here is a transcription of his solo on the above:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpuLgR3Jji4
Another track from the CD: -
"Love Is Here To Stay": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TRLEo4Csr0
and you will find all the rest on YouTube.
Here is another set of tunes, this time from his 'combo', starting with the very tricky "Tricotism"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGrowJSYYpQ&list=PLPNEZO1XNrRw74BtlQHc2ZkGku5g2wELY
To my mind, a trombone player who puts all those fancy tonguing techniques to good use!
