I just got a Vincent Bach 11C - yes, no corp, no periods, just

VINCENT BACH 11C

Anybody have an idea when this piece may have been made?

From what I've read:

"VINCENT BACH" (no CORP.) 1994-1996
"VINCENT BACH" Large letters 1997-2003
"VINCENT BACH" Small letters, no "CORP" but with new "font", shallow stamping 2004-2007
"VINCENT BACH" Small letters, no "CORP" but with new "font", deeper stamping 2007-

Do you guys have think that a NY 11C is better than a non NY 11C?

There is enough variability in the Bach manufacturing process that a blanket statement like that is not valid. People seem to prefer NY and Mt Vernon Bach mouthpieces over different Elkhart ones, but you are the ultimate judge. Note that not all sizes were made in New York and the New York pieces command a premium price. Are they worth it? Only you can judge. Will a New York mouthpiece instantly make you a trombone god? No. Practice will do a lot more.

I have a MV 11C that is great and a MV 11c that doesn’t play well at all. Both were given to me My recent Bach 11C mouthpieces are very good, not that much different from the good MV 11C, and not subject to as much variation as in the past. I think Mouthpiece Express maintains a recently made stock. It has been a popular jazz mouthpiece in the past. Ian MacDougall, who played a Bach 11C which he said was a production anomaly, said to stick with one mouthpiece, whatever it was.

Thank you Bruce. I am a returning LA trombone player. Its been fun to practice some again. I am enjoying the gear talk.
