Trombone slide repairs BACH 42BO need help

Post by Phat »

I’m getting a used Bach 42BO repaired that’s in okay conditions but is missing a cork barrel and has dents here and there. Is $560 reasonable for Cork barrel + slide lock/Clean+Slide work F attachment/and dent work. I’ve never really got a repair so prices are unfamiliar to me.

Without seeing the horn, and a full list of what the tech thinks needs to be done, it is hard to say. But yes, I could see $600.00 eaten up pretty quickly, particularly if parts replacement is involved.

Wait, it's missing a cork barrel? Never seen that before. Is there still cork / padding? Not really an easy thing to knock off, or so I would think.

Nope the whole thing is gone so you only see the slide and the little bump before the slide on the mouthpiece side of the trombone. The spit valve also has an air leak as it’s a little bit far off the hole.

It was made on a Friday. Full moon. The day after Cinco de Mayo.
