Stripping the lacquer off a 2B
I have a late 60s king musical instruments 2B with a brass bell. It’s cosmetically challenged. I’m thinking that maybe it would look better if I stripped the lacquer. Who’s done this and what were the results? I like the way it plays.

Re: Stripping the locker off a 2B
King lacquer of the period (and even now) is an epoxy and is very difficult to strip without using some really dangerous chemicals.
Find a shop that will do the job and let them do it for you.
Do not try to strip with a wire brush if you like how it plays -- the wire brush will remove a lot of brass alongside the lacquer and that will change how it plays.
