Mt. Vernon Bach 50 TIS
Out of curiosity, did anyone ever tried to make a TIS-horn out of a Mt. Vernon Bach 50?

Well I once put a Conn 60h slide on my MV Bach bell section and it played like s**t. Does that answer your question?

I've converted a Conn 70H to bell tuning and it blows and sounds very well. Other way with a Bach ? Hmm.....

I play my NY50 bell section often with an M&W TIS slide made for a Fuchs. Plays REALLY well like that. I will, uh, not be performing a surgery to install a J-Bend on it.
I think having an appropriate taper for the J bend would be an interesting investigation… I have never in detail compared the Fuchs/6x/or 7x back bows with a Bach for shape or taper rate. How similar or different are they?
Cheers,
Andy
