Up for sale is a special bell, a rescue 50 bell I had cut by John Sandhagen to travel with.

Martin Schippers rather liked my setup, even with my older Edwards slide I had at the time.

Is it pretty? I think it's beautiful, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I saved this bell from a 50B and had it cut and mounted for my current setup. I thought it showed some promise on the donor 50B, and boy I was right! It's an 80's or 90's vintage (serial was all but removed from the slide), a little heavier gauge but not H material in yellow. Right now it has OE Thayer mounts, easy to get from the source if you don't have them already.

This bell, being a little heavier already, is in the heavy category for sure with the screw ring on. With the right setup this bell is a world beater with a tuba next to you on some good orchestral rep. I recently played the Bernstein Waterfront Suite with my orchestra and just had the time of my life playing the Ebs at the end with no effort. That's where the bell really shines. Even despite the heavy nature of it, I have advanced to the finals of a competition and used it in several other settings with much success.

Small note, my bass setup is very heavy to begin with. I think with something more reasonable, this bell could be useful for any legit setting. I need to balance out my setup with something a bit lighter.

I'm selling it, not because I don't like the bell, but because I need something a little less heavy for my travel setup. I'm not usually playing with a big orchestra when I fly, I'm playing solos or with a smaller ensemble. If I could afford it, I would have two screwbells... this one and another!
