Does anyone have any experience with the Wise Grip? It’s an ergonomic clip on for the slide.

I've been trying one for a few weeks now. I really like it so far. Have noticed less "gripping tension" in my left hand and arm.

I use one on my tenor in conjunction with Sheridan's Get a grip. I would agree with Harold about the grip tension.

I wish they made one that was compatible with the neotech I already use. I'm thinking about ordering one anyway and then having it modified to work.

Jay is working on versions that will work with small bore and medium bore horns too. After chatting with him on FB, I gave him the dimensions off of my 79H slide, 32H slide, and Besson 8-10 for reference. I did not give them much consideration at ITF because the display focused on large bore and bass bones. I will be ordering one when the medium bore version comes out which will be in the next month or so.

I am using the Wise grip on large bore .547 Shires and Bach slides as well as an Edwards dual bore (47/62) slide. It is a great fit on the Bach and Shires, but is a little loose on the Edwards. After using it for several weeks I find that a slide without the grip is very uncomfortable. I feel as if it has relieved fatigue/tension that I used to get in my elbow.

The Wise Grip is a really neat idea, but for me, it puts my hand too far forward, making me have to open my hand too much. I also find it too "thick" in my fingers. I have mentioned this to them, and they said others have said similar, and that they are working on developing further.

Will be interested to see the next version.

Does anyone know what happened to these?

Their website doesn't exist anymore and I don't see them for sale on eBay or Amazon, as they once were.

The site seems to be working fine, maybe it was just down for a little bit.

The site seems to be working for me. http://wisegrip.com

I just ordered one for my bass trombone 2 weeks ago and love it! Probably a little pricey for what it is, but definitely worth it because it made it so much easier to hold my horn.

Still waiting for the small bore one to be developed. Will buy it as soon as it becomes available because i like the bass bone one so much.

Waiting for the small/jazz/.500 bore size version. I use the current version on my 88H, and love it!

Interesting.

I have had curved braces put on my slides for decades. I had one that was too flexible put on and when I squeezed to hold the horn the inner slide bowed together.

There are pictures in my profile.

I've found the same thing with the grip.

Neat idea but if your hands are too big or too small it doesn't really work.

Has anyone tried one of these on a King 4B slide? Not sure if the bracing is different enough from the standard Bach/Conn widths to be a problem

I believe the 4B has a wide slide. The Wise Grip fits just fine on my Duo Gravis, which has a wide slide.

Thanks. On the whole it seems like it's worth trying. Is there's a UK supplier ?

I'm not sure if there's a UK supplier, but I bet if you reached out to them you can figure out how to get it shipped overseas.

https://wisegrip.com/contact/

I ended up buying both the small bore and bass trombone grip. I use the bass bone one still, but I stopped using the small bore grip. It's just not as comfortable. If there was more space for my hand, like on my bass, it would be great.

UK here, I bought one a couple of years ago direct from his site. I can't remember what the shipping was but it wasn't stupidly expensive. I no longer have it though.

I do have an unused Calderpip grip if that interests you at all?

Hi, I bought one large bore wise grip from a member but I don't use it. Shipping should be not so expensive from my location to UK. Send me e-mail if you are interested.

Yes, right! I didn’t want to mention your name, anyway I remember it was your grip! It is really in new conditions.

I have one on my 42BO and 50B3, hat combined with an Instrument Innovations Axe Handle , they are both much more comfortable and easier to hold for long periods of time.
