I went ahead and, at least, temporarily locked this topic as it's escalated in ways that are not fruitful. Nobody here is in favor of sexual assault. Period.
We'll talk about this and see about maybe opening it up later when everyone has cooled off. The last thing we want to do is sweep anything under the rug, especially since it is at least tangentially related to the profession as many of us are educators or deal 1 on 1 with students. However, there's little the few hundred of us are going to do to make sweeping changes to legal systems around the world. We *can* fix our own little corners of the world by reporting it to the proper authorities if we're made aware of these types of situations ourselves. It might also mean recording our 1 on 1 lessons (as both teachers and students). At the very least, the cost to do so is rapidly declining.
