Anyone have any experience with the XO Brass 1242L? Is it a lighter bass trombone? Is it balanced? Build quality?
Did it come with something? I'd start with that.kkrehn397 wrote: Thu Aug 10, 2023 10:25 am I just purchased a Jupiter XO 1242L. What mouthpiece would you recommend?
A Bach 5C is a small shank mouthpiece and probably won't fit. In fact, most "5" sized mouthpieces are rather small for a bass trombone.kkrehn397 wrote: Fri Aug 11, 2023 1:04 pm Thank you for your responses. It is coming next week with a 5C. Not sure if this is the same as the JBM 15L.
Those are Bach sizes - not necessarily anywhere near what those numbers refer to in XO sizes. It could be a reasonable choice that is similar to a Bach 1.5G. A lot of manufacturers size their mouthpieces very differently from Bach, even if they use the same numbers.BGuttman wrote: Fri Aug 11, 2023 3:48 pmA Bach 5C is a small shank mouthpiece and probably won't fit. Just to calibrate: A Bach 5G has a rim Inside Diameter of 1.01" (about 25.7 mm).
A Bach 1 1/2 G has a rim inside diameter of 1.08" (about 27.4 mm).
