The Los Angeles Philharmonic spends the most: $117,813,629.

The Chattanooga Symphony spends the least: $2,463,823.

Jap van Zweden of Dallas got $5 Million! (some kind of a bonus was involved)

The Colorado Springs conductor got $77,000

Several others are listed as N/A so someone may have gotten even less.

Highest: New York Philharmonic     $615,924

Lowest: Colorado Symphony    $116,468

I'm pretty sure our little local orchestra spends way less than Chattanooga. They have 4 part time people in the office and play 4-5 concerts a year.

I should focus on business politics affairs instead of practicing my instrument.

One thing I noticed is the relationship between executive compensation and overall budget. On average, it's just under 2%; the high is 4.75% and the low is 0.72%. . Unsurprisingly, the groups with smaller overall budgets tend to pay a larger proportion of same to their chief executive.

That would be the efficiencies of scale at work, I guess.

0.72% of the lowest orchestra expense up there would be only $17,739.  Any CEO you could get for that would be practically a volunteer.

Pfff... definitely there's money, but going only to a couple of pockets.

While at the University I decided that if I was to play professionally for my whole livelihood, I would need to learn violin and just play the trombone for my own pleasure. The chances of a good gig as a violinist are much better.
