FS: Boosey "Solbron" Imperial Euphonium

Post by ttf_weedlewee »

A 4 Valve compensating euphonium for sale! This instrument is from early 1900's. I believe 1907 ish? Great sounding instrument. I used this when I first auditioned for my undergrad and since then it has been living in the closet except for the occasional Tuba Christmas. The valves seem to be worn down (they look to be copper only so I'm guessing it has been worn down over the years) but they still work quickly and smoothly. No leaking from the valves from what I can tell. Bell is smaller than your typical modern instrument (a little over 10 inches). The silver is in surprisingly good condition. Also the horn is much heavier than what you would think! Guessing the silver is actually quite thick on this. Very sweet sounding instrument and the intonation is pretty good (for a euphonium...) The D about the staff does need to be played using 1-2 but other than that, nothing out of the ordinary. It takes medium shank mouthpieces. Slides move well. Comes with a tuba world gig bag.

Horn is in Vancouver Canada.
