Someone beat the trombones to making fun micro-tonal music.

I'm late to the party, this blew up on the "reaction" channels months ago.

At first glance, I presumed this had some connection to British politician, Count Binface

Angine de Poitrine is awesome. Really just the perfect mix of weird, absurd, silly, unpretentiously nerdy, extremely solid technically and well-thought compositionally. I think it says a lot when a "popular" band is embraced almost universally by trained musicians of every style and genre.

They played at the Montreal International Jazz Festival a couple of weeks ago. Many people who arrived less than a couple of hours before the show turned around and left because they couldn't even get on the same street as where the band played, let alone close enough to hear or see them well.

Here's drone footage showing the crowd completely filling the square. The crowd actually extended on that street a full block further south than what that short done shot shows, and as you can briefly see at the beginning, also overflowed on the perpendicular street for almost a full block on either side. People on the main festival square could not move for over an hour after the show was over because of the time it took for the streets around the square to start clearing. The estimates for attendance are somewhere between 100K and 200K; the last time someone attracted such a huge crowd at the festival was 17 years ago, and it was Stevie Wonder...

Here's a shot of the immense crowd holding the band's signature triangle hand poseb

I watch a couple "Angine de Poitrine" videos and now that's just about all that shows up in my Youtube feed. :idk:

From what I can tell, their current tour dates are sold out. Scalper sites are selling tickets to a concert in L.A. for $1001. Three years ago they were playing to crowds of 14 in basement clubs.

perhaps their success (apart from being really good at what they do) is because they're the first band in ages that sounds different (with maybe a nod to Harry Partch?).
