I wanted to gauge people’s impression of omalleys orchestral tenor since it’s been released for a few months now.

I’m currently on a stock early 70s corp and it’s greaf but I find myself curious on omalleys new horn plays. I’m not near chicago so I can’t go up myself and trial.

How does it compare to Bachs from various eras? MV, corp, new? I know it’s not a 1 to 1 copy but I find their build quality very intriguing. All seamed parts and such.

Imo, better playing than 95 percent of all Bachs. Like the best of the modern boutiques. But it sounds like a Bach the way those don't.

They’re excellent horns.

If you know you like Bachs, we'll be very surprised if you don't like it. Think of a Bach of whatever is your personal favorite vintage. Now imagine that it's brand new and with a warranty and guaranteed assembled properly.

There's one for sale on the forum right now actually. If you want one, that may be a good option

I’ve heard great things. I have an artisan Bach Bell/tuning slide combo that I’m seriously considering have an O’Malley valve section and slide built for it.

I do have a friend using a Bach bell and slide on his O'Malley valve section and tuning slide- I can't say for certain that O'Malley put it together though.

I once reached out to them about putting a valve section on a Friedman holton and they did give me a quote. It’s possible that they no longer offer that if they’re just wanting to do their own stuff, especially if they’re getting a bass bone in the works as well.

i was going to try one but it fell through but I might get my bach rebuilt with their valve

Couldn't tell you! Ask the shop, I'm sure they can give you a quote.

I think Aiden is referring to Chase Waterburys' horn, which we did assemble that valve section. That was part of the first prototype horn with Tim Higgins.

We do most all custom work in addition to our complete instruments. We bring the same ethos from our scratch builds to our custom work so you are getting the same quality components and assembly, not just another thrown together parts horn.
