Voigt valve on Rath small bores

Post by AndyBaker »

I got a Voigt valve for my R10 a couple of weeks ago and it’s frickin awesome 🤩
I’ve played many, many “in between” broadway books, and have used my 36b Frankenbone on all of them since 2009, but this is a game changer. The valve is low-maintenance, quick and silent; and with a wick 6bl, I comfortably get through to a low C, while maintaining the zip in the upper register. I’m amazed by how open it is as long as I don’t try to play it like a bigger horn.

Just thought I’d drop a review here - 100% recommended!

I've been wondering about these, particularly the difference between the Rotax and Voigt valves.

The Voigt valve for the Rath small bores is amazing. Definitely my first choice for a brand new small bore F.

I've been thinking about this for my R1, or even as part of a refurb on an Olds Super. Probably need to take up dentistry to do both...
