I just bought a 1981 Bach 36B with gold bell and nickel slide. It’s in great condition and plays really nicely, and is actually quite similar in feel in a lot of ways to my Shires MD+ which I found interesting given that’s a .508 horn.

I’m not certain I’ll do this and need more time on the horn, but wondering who has done a leadpipe replacement on a Bach 36 and could share the results? If I went down this path the a few pipes that come to mind are the Brassark MV36 and something like an Edwards #2.

Ask me again in three weeks! I’m having J. Landress pull my Corp 36 pipe and have an O’Malley to try in comparison. They seemed decently confident about saving the leadpipe.

I needed to have the slide worked on and the 36 was uncomfortably flatter in the upper register than my 42b. So, I thought this might fix it. We’ll see what I decide as far as pipes go.

I have a Mount Vernon 36 that I put an Edwards #2 leadpipe in and love It. I had to have my Tech cut the threads off and make it press fit

I think i learned this from Dukes. It works. And if you need to play real swing band 4th parts or Orchestral second, the Edwards #3 facilitates that.

I'm about 20 years in on having the #2 as my go to leadpipe for a 36.
