Hello! I'm headed to college next year, im a non music major but will audition for my university concert bands. I currently play on a shires custom, with axial flow valves, dual bore slide, ss2 lead pipe, the more open tuning slide, and a standard weight one piece yellow bell, My current DE set up is an MB110 rim, MB L star cup and L8 2025 shank i got a few months ago from a buddy, it plays great but id like a more open sound and low register, especially in the low Eflat down to the pedal register. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

Moving from the MB series to the LB series would be a good start. LB 110 and L will feel more open, and you may also want a bigger rim size, but maybe stay on 110 depending on what you were using previously and how it was working for you. For the shank, dual bore horns usually play better with something besides the #8 backbore. I have L9 and L10, progressively more open.
