In my eternal quest for the ultimate Bach 42, I had looked hard at the Getzen 4047DS in the past, and then looked again after it became the 4047ET “Enzo Turriziani” model. I've been trying to streamline "the collection", possibly offloading some horns and getting a real nice Bach style horn. I was talking to someone about the 4047ET, went to pull it up, and noticed that now it's the 4047, and all mention of Enzo Turriziani was removed from the web listing:

Does anyone know if now the specs are gonna change in any major way?

Well, the text of the website no longer mentions the "Genuine, Olivewood Trigger Paddle" or the "fiberglass, vegan leather case".

Also, someone should tell Getzen to not start website names with 404. I thought the page didn't load.

The Getzen horns are such sleepers. I don't know about their Bach style horn but their Eterna attempt to build a better Conn really was impressive. I miss that horn.

Apparently that's true for Edwards too. I don't know if any come with cases anymore. One of my friends just got an Edwards T-396AR through a dealer. No case. No mouthpiece. They didn't even send any pillars, and the copy doesn't mention pillars anymore either.

There are no hard case makers in the US. The cases associated with quality are so expensive and take so long to get that there was already little to no margin to be made on them. And that was before the tariffs came along. Would not be surprised if the horns no longer came with cases…

My 3047 (about 15 years ago) came with a very solid case that's far too heavy to carry around.

Getzen makes adjustments to horns over time and will implement some of them before doing a full "re-release," but I'm guessing the only thing they did this time is take Enzo's name off the horn. The wooden thumb rest and case are nice to have, but don't change the playability of the horn.

The 4047 (with or without Enzo's name on it) is a fantastic instrument. If I was in the market for a Bach-like horn, I'd try to visit Edwards/Getzen, M&W, and O'Malley which are all within 2-3 hour drive of each other.

Greenhoe/Schilke are very close to Chicago, and Bach has a showroom in downtown Chicago as well. It's a good city for trombones!

Getzen lost its case manufacturer (it was based in the US because they don’t want to go overseas for one). So they don’t have cases anymore. I have gotten and sold 2 in the last 3 months. Both did still had the wood valve lever and I bet you could still ask for one if they are indeed gone.
The Enzo thing I know about but I’m not sure how much of that news is supposed to be public. But the horn is not changing except no more ET on the bell.

The T396s were sold to dealers as either with case and mouthpiece or not. Some places wanted to sell the horns as outfits and some places just wanted to sell the horn. The prices were different of course with the one with a case costing more.
The horn still comes with the harmonic pillars and I assumed dealer misplaced them. Have your friend reach out to Lexi at Getzen/ Edwards to get a set

They have the Harmonic pillars now, and while they purchased the horn through a dealer, it actually was shipped directly to her. The brushed finish is really REALLY nice looking, and she LOVES the horn. Really a top class horn in every way.

Yeah, I heard about the cases, and it's true across a lot of the industry as case manufacturers close, even those who are not US Based.

Issue now is actually getting a chance to get NEAR a 4047. No dealers have them in stock, and a few I emailed won't get them in unless it's a special order. I'm not sure whether they are just that popular, or whether dealers just aren't ordering them. Or maybe Getzen/Edwards is just that busy.

I get them regularly bc I order them. Tell your dealer you want one and they can get it. Or try a place that has a trial period like hickeys, Dillon’s.

Checked with both Dillon and Virtuosity, and no ETA. Doesn't seem like anyone has one locally. I can put a deposit on one at Hickeys, which currently has an estimated 12 to 18 month lead time. I wonder if they keep any at the Edwards shop in Elkhorn. I guess the demand is pretty dang high right now, so actually being able to try one out won't be a possibility for some time.

Maybe call Edwards. They are usually quite responsive.

SKB and MTS cases are made in the US. Some of the Gator cases are made in the US, some are made overseas. I don't know about Protec.

The Paul Effman (music store) trombone case is made in USA, but it looks like a rebranded SKB.

I just bought a used Getzen Custom 3062 bass trombone. The case seems to be very sturdy, but it's huge and heavy. I might use it for travel, but otherwise I'm going to use a smaller and lighter case or a gig bag.

I really like the Protec Max cases. Lightweight and protective (unless you smash them).

Schmitt Music has a a Getzen 4047ET in stock.

Pretty much what I'm seeing across the the board. I have two Bach 42s so I'm not really in a Rush. Maybe I'll just have the 42T modded into something else.

If you specify the filters Availability = "In stock" & Brand = "Getzen", on the Schmitt Music website, it comes back with a 4047ET, a 4047IB and a 1047FN.

True, but it's kind of deceptive, as it is "In Stock" only so you can pre-order it. None of the 5 trombones listed are available for immediate delivery.
