Bach 36 mouthpiece taper

I picked up a project Bach 36. The slide is in good shape, however mouthpieces wobble in the receiver. My suspicion is someone has rammed a mouthpiece in hard and managed to enlarge the receiver, so now there's just enough room for the bottom of the shank to sit on the venturi and the top to wobble. However, I showed a pal at the weekend and he's convinced it's just a different taper.

So my first question is: what small shank tapers did Bach use around 1980?

My second question: if I can swap the lead pipe will that mean a standard Bach mouthpiece will fit?

Cheers!

Should be normal small shank. Sounds like it's reamed out.

It's intended to be a standard taper. Sometimes Bach leadpipes are just bad - I've seen brand new horns from them with significant mouthpiece wobble.

Yes, replace the leadpipe with one meant for a standard modern mouthpiece taper.
