Hi all,

I have a straight Shires .525 (8” bell) rig and seek recommendations for a slim hard case that is “airline carryon”-friendly. It does have the traditional “wide” slide (vs. a small bore setup). Any input would be welcome.

They're obscenely expensive, and I got mine before the recent tariff theft began, but I have a Bag of Spain Jazz Trombone EV-3 that would fit the horn you describe. I would never check it but would have no issues at all carrying it on.

8" bell max, wide slide should it fine as seen in the following video. I don't think I'd ever feel comfortable trying to put an f-attachment in the case like this guy does, doesn't seem wide enough to not put pressure on the trigger/linkage. They have a better case for that (EV-2).

The US dealers don't seem to list this one their sites, but I found they can easily order you one if you reach out.

Check out the second half of this thread and we talk about cases for 525's - it's tough. I'm still looking for one myself. But they do exist.

Bach did not supply cases to Japan, so their retailers all sourced their own. I have a very cool case for my Japanese 36, though not one of the small ones like those.
