Hi Everyone
I have a Shires #2 Nickel leadpipe/Long . Would it be ok to cut 1 1/4 inch off to try and make it a little more open? Didn't know if it would effect the fit or intonation.
Thanks
Randy

Re: Shires leadpipe question
I would ask shires, or a tech. I also don't know how cutting off the end would make it more open, when it's the taper and venturi size that make it play how it does. Chopping some off the end isn't really going to work well, imho. I would assume that since it is longer, it has a longer more gradual taper that would most likely be negatively impacted by just chopping off the end.

Re: Shires leadpipe question
Not really, or at least not in the really crucial part of the taper by the venturi. You can have a tech cut it to the standard length and then carefully flare out the end to get a good fit in the slide.tbonesullivan wrote: Mon Dec 08, 2025 11:53 am I would assume that since it is longer, it has a longer more gradual taper that would most likely be negatively impacted by just chopping off the end.
Or you could just order a standard length version of the same pipe from Shires.
