Hi everyone,

Hoping you are all keeping well.

I found this great big band backing track on ( you know where ) and thought it worth a try, this swings the
the good old fashioned way.

I might even do this on my New ( Old ) Olds P-22 Bass to compare the sounds....

You have the "George Roberts" touch in your playing!! Same style! When I listen George Roberts one of the things I appreciate most is intonation and timing. (I have to work on intonation but thats probably what all of us have to?) And his musical approach. He kind of tell something with every note he play. Can't be explained but you are very close to do the same! Thanks for the music.

I just performed a transcription of Hall of the Mountain King that he did! I'll have to post the video of it sometime; I've been putting it off b/c the venue recorded us with higher quality audio than the Zoom handycam I have and they need a few more weeks to get the recordings to me!

One of the nice things about the original George Roberts recording is that you hear how he sits on top of the notes. Like many trombone players, you have a tendency to scoop into the note too often and end up a little on the low side. Just something to listen for and be careful of. Otherwise a very, very nice recording.

Here's the original. It's fun going back and forth listening to you both.

Wed'e love to hear this Matt - I would attempt this at some point in the future but without a decent backing track I won't have anything.......Anybody out there with this ?

I agree with you in some respects, however, if you listen to George's many Youtube recordings in the Coffee shop with his backing tracks, you will notice that he also scoops the notes often, and plays on the low side, maybe it's because we are Trombone players with Slides, I take it by the looks of things, your are possibly a Valve instrument player so No scooping, which would upset me a little, pleased you like my version ( I'm an amateur ) bye the way

Hi Y'all,

I don't usually do this but thought I'd share with you the Backing track for this Tune together with my
transcription taken from George's version. When I started this, I did not work out the key Signature
so you will see some Db's written when it turns out the opening starts in D Maj so Yes these should
have been C's sharpened but I'm sure you will get the just as you play along that's if you fancy a blow.

It's a great piece, I hope you have as much Fun as I did.....

It can even be played on Euph's - Go David .....
