I have a Bach 50 Corporation horn with new Instrument Innovations valves via John Sandhagen that plays quite well.
Given that I like its tonal qualities, is there anything to be gained or lost from stripping off the original lacquer? It is in good shape, but seems to have been put on rather thickly.

I wouldn't worry about it. My magic corp 50 bell sounded and played great before it was stripped and after.
