Hi All,
Does anyone have their jacket of Slide Area handy or know it well? Some friends and I are curious what type of Bach 42 Mr. Alessi used on this album- if there was any mention of a thayer or a basic 42B.
Thank you!

He switched between a straight 42 and a 42B (stock) back then. Many of us from that generation used to have a straight bell and trigger bell. He definitely uses the 42B on some of the CD, because there are some nice sounding valve notes on the Grondahl Concerto.

As far as I’m concerned, his sound was never better than when he was playing a Bach. The Edwards and Shires certainly facilitated his spectacular technique, but that sound he got on the Bach is unparalleled.

What year did he stop playing Bachs?
