All things trombones!

With a Luxembourg gig, I assume she had to learn Luxembourgish; not to mention German, French and Belgian, if she wanted to have a life (and gigs on the side). Yikes! One of the most sought after young professional trombonists, she will make the move to her new role after completing her commitments to the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra where she was appointed in 2023.
My kids are both fluent German speakers, and get a kick out of Luxembourgish: Understandable, but not quite the same thing...AtomicClock wrote: Wed Sep 10, 2025 10:19 amWith a Luxembourg gig, I assume she had to learn Luxembourgish; not to mention German, French and Belgian, if she wanted to have a life (and gigs on the side). I'd hate to have to get by on the French I "learned" in high school.

Probably not fair to speculate or criticize an individual's decisions on a public forum when those reasons are none of our business. In every other sector, a job interview is an opportunity for an organization to meet and assess a candidate and decide if they're the right fit for a role. It is also an opportunity for the candidate to do the same. I think we sometimes forget that two-way street in the professional audition circuit because winning a job is such a coveted achievement.Mikebmiller wrote: Mon Nov 17, 2025 8:14 am Which raises the question of why did she audition if she wasn't going to take the job? That makes it hard on the orchestra.
