Better than the P.E.T.E?

Post by BrianJohnston »

Is there something better than the P.E.T.E. for embouchure training/building muscle?

I’ve had mine for around 10-15 years now, and it no longer burns or feels like I’m building my embouchure anymore. Is there something that’s better or next level? Thanks.

I don't know if it's better... but it's heavier!

I just stumbled across this contraption. It looks like a PETE without the disc, but still uses the pulling exercise. So I guess you have to clamp down hard.

This is exactly what I was hoping to find. Thanks!

Around 11 years ago the P.E.T.E. Pro came out. Maybe you missed it?

"Clamping down hard" is not a beneficial exercise... if anything, it's what you shouldn't do.

Doug, I would love to hear your thoughts on the U trainer gadget linked above. Here’s a shot from the YouTube video. It looks like it focuses on your corners.

I'll give that one a very big maybe.
Resistance strength training in a direction you don't need strength.
Building tbe wrong kind of strength or in the wrong direction is counterproductive.
