I bought a straight neckpipe for my Edwards T-350, and it works great, but without the thumb supporting the horn's weight through the valve lever, I find holding the horn to be very uncomfortable for my left hand (index finger doesn't come close to reaching the mouthpiece shank).

How do you deal with this?

Counterweight + leather specialities strap, bullet brace, axe handle, etc.

I find a wise grip on the slide to work well on Edwards/Getzen straight large bores.

I found my Edwards slight awkwardly wide for my short fingers. That's one of the reasons I've gone to an 88H.

You got ask yourself why you bought a straight neck pipe for a T-350 to begin with. What have you gained from losing all of the F attachment facility and balanced ergonomics?

it was cheap, and in great shape, and if I keep the Bach 42 Scott Sweeney is redoing, I think the overall Edwards package would be attractive to a prospective buyer.

Have a ring soldered onto the mouthpiece side of the cross brace like the older Kings!

Calder pips makes a straight trombone grip. Doesn’t work half bad! There’s also the Yamaha 2.0 strap which I found works pretty good on straight trombones.

I second that! Plus it looks cool.
Just as a point of curiosity, l once sat next to a guy playing a King who had a finger ring soldered onto the HANDSLIDE crossbrace! I didn't ask about it, but should have.
