O Malley Lead pipes

Post by BrianJohnston »

I got my hands on one of their .547 lead pipes, called “VG” and I’m very impressed with how it plays. I’d even say it’s in the same league as the legendary Brad Close/BrassArk pipes.

Has anyone tried or compared any of their .547 or .562 pipes?

Here are some descriptions of their .547 pipes;

BrassArk Minick collab: (unsure of size or description)
RG - broad, orchestral sound with a fast response, great for soloists
VG - included with each trombone in yellow brass
TG - the newest taper, a blend of characteristics from several different leadpipes
G - a cousin of the RG, even blow across all registers, better for sections
88H - like vintage Conn, wide and open blowing

I’ve got the Brassark Minick collab pipe, don’t know any exact specs, but it’s very even blowing across the horn with a great sound and response. Very easy and predictable to play.

They duplicated my magic 52H 525 pipe. Have a tech working on getting my leadpipe out of my Getzen so I can try it. Can’t wait to see how it plays!
