Brass Playing is...

While cleaning my classroom for the summer I've been listening to several brass clinics via You Tube.

A (jazz?) trumpeter named Pat Harbison did a Caruso clinic 5 or so years ago.

I thought this thing he quoted Carmine Caruso as saying was interesting: "Trumpet playing is not like weightlifting, it's like juggling."

Trombone playing, with the slide added to the mix is probably even more about complex coordination and timing than trumpet playing.

Just an interesting way to frame an approach to playing an instrument.
