Alpha Trombones by Cédric Sourdouyre?

Post by Jhereg »

This guy Cédric Sourdouyre reached out to me on LinkedIn.
I'm curious whether anyone has played his stuff, knows someone who has, etc?

Here's his site: https://www.trombone-alpha.com/

Here's the design:

And here's his very artsy video:

Nothing good happens on LinkedIn.

Come for the beech and lucite bracing, stay for the bending ripples and skewed slide crook...

They were all over my Facebook feed for a while.

Feels somehow more gimmicky than even B.A.C.... I don't know if that's the case, but for sure the vibe I'm getting from them is a lot of buzzwords and weird visual design, but with some pretty rough craftsmanship. To each their own I guess

Concept is really cool. In my experience asymmetrical bends never make a horn play better. It’s either no effect or plays worse. Looks like thin metal too. I’d be open to trying but yeah I dunno.

Lol!!

I’m only asking because this person sent a request on LinkedIn, and it made me curious to know whether anyone had actually played one of these before. Certainly not looking to make any switches where it comes to small bore tenors!

Are they using a real Hagmann valve or are those the knock-offs?

He calls it a Hagmann on the site, so if it's a knockoff he's in trouble.
