Olds S-22 with Dual Axial Valves

Post by 8thnote181 »

First, I want to thank Kevin at Heritage Music for another amazing job. Last year, he converted my Reynolds Contempora from a closed wrap to an open wrap.

This project started off with a broken lever on the Olds. I found a technician that was able to mend a new lever, but the rotor was warped. So a new rotor was needed. And if you're replacing one, why not add a second one. The valves are sourced from Instrument Innovations.

I decided to go with a satin finish and I couldn't be any happier. They even have an Olds S-22 in the shop, so it's like a before and after shot.

Amazing! Would love to do something similar some day, but I just blew my "fun stuff" budget on a contra.

NICE!!! I wonder how the brass vs nickel silver valve wrap will affect the tone.
