Can anyone help guide me on what spit valve spring will work for my vintage Cleveland Superior trombone ? I am having a difficult time finding a replacement. The springs thus far all seem to not be heavy enough to close it. I can't find anything specific to a Cleveland Superior anymore either.

Sounds to me like there's something else wrong with it.

It's basically a King, so a spring for a King water key should work.

Yeah. Maybe post a pic or two so we can see what's going on? You'll need to make a couple more posts before you can upload images.

I have a 2B that's been working fine on half a spring, broken on the other side. I guess I better get it replaced soon.

A349 from Allied. Any repair shop should have a few on hand.

Well there's nothing wrong with the horn... The last time a repair person!(Cornell University now deceased) Used a baritone spring that was like the original spring... Everything seems to be too light a spring I can find. Local repair shops want to charge $150 just to look at it. I used to replace these myself... I played it occasionally iny rock band and occasionally at church So inferring I should get a new horn is frankly rude and ridiculous... I just thought other trombone players may have helpful insight...I am primarily a vocalist these days.

Fyi the horn was refinished and slide work done 20 years ago.. it's truly not a bad instrument
