Hi everyone,

One of my student came to me with an old OLDS trombone. He told me his grand father bought it to an american soldier after WW2.
He was wondering what I could tell him and if it had some value, I told him I'd ask here.

Beside some minor dents, the trombone is in a fairly good shape, the slide is perfect.

It's a 1946 Olds Standard trombone, per the Horn-u-copia serial number list. The "U.S." engraved on the bell probably indicates a military issue instrument. It's probably a good small bore (by today's standards) horn. It's not worth a lot of money, but it's worth something.

It does have the dual octogonal slide, first time I see one.
The tuning slide has a number 3 on it, reminds me of my Shires.
After a full restauration, the trombone is indeed a good small bore one. Very think sound and farely easy to play.
