Stripped Bach 50 A3

Post by EZSlider »

Hey guys, managed to snag some old-school aircraft stripper and my auto parts store.
Stripped most of the lacquer off today, but need to do a little more. I want to polish the nickel and scratch the brass.. What should I use on the nickel?
Thanks in advance

If you are going to leave it raw brass I would just polish it all. Raw scratched finish will hold alllllll the oil/dirt it touches, also it won’t have the “brushed” lacquer look as it will not keep the brightness required.

If you are prepping for lacquer it’s another ball game, but leaving it raw brass - in my opinion - scratch finish is a waste of effort.

It takes a fair amount of elbow grease but Ive gotten my raw brass horns to a mirror finish using DiamondTechTools branded polishing paste. I go all the way up to 100,000 grit when I do it.

And I agree, you should just polish everything. Patina on the scratch brush will look dirty more than anything else
