Hello! Can you tell me something about the slide of the Bach 16? I see sometimes they are dual-bore and sometimes not, am I right? It depends from the year of production or they simply produce the both kind?

16 = .495/.509 dual
standard version = standard weight, yellow tubes with nickel silver oversleeves, yellow crook
"LT" (i.e. lightweight nickel silver) as an option
other material variations in the NY days

16M = .509 single
always "LT"

It's not "sometimes" one or the other. They are two different instruments.

As ithinknot said, the 16 is dual bore, usually a standard weight slide.

The 16M is single bore always with a lightweight nickel silver slide. The 16M also has be larger bore neck pipe on the bell, and no counterweight.

I have both. But the one I play is the LT16MG (16M with a gold brass bell instead of a yellow brass bell) because I like the darker, warmer sound. For their differences, they play about the same, though.
