Ever a hear a trumpet player out of tune up high?

I have lever on my euphonium. So easy to use and so nice.

I have seen a few levers on Trumpets. They seemed to work real well for those that used them.

Yeah my buddy from way back used one on his C trumpet to great effect. He was like a trombonist, tubing reach partial and each pitch.

That video is interesting, and when he describes the tuning of the open partials he almost perfectly describes "compressed octaves". Sharp low and middle C, flat high C. The pitch finder of course can help with sharp partials, but the root source of this problem is likely the mouthpiece being used.

If your problem trumpeter is out of tune in the upper register, it's ikely caused by the mouthpiece either compressing or stretching the octaves. This is due to too tight or too open of a throat or backbore.
