Suggestions for a cup mute

Post by DrTbone43 »

I have Bach 36 and need a new cup mute since my Humes and Berg stone lined does not fit. How about the larger Humes and Berg cup for a larger tenor. Please offer other suggestions. Would like to stay away from metal. I have small hands and hate to contribute to the percussion section during a concert. Thanks,
Ron

I’m a big fan of Dave Butler’s carbon fiber mute. In tune, extremely light and very adjustable. If you’ve got the $$$, it’s great.

Did you try recorking the H&B? That one should fit.

I really like the Soulo Cup mute for larger tenors. Like the Denis Wick cup it has an adjustable cup but sounds much closer (in my opinion) to the H&B.

Second the Soulo mute. Speaks all the way down to low E with no trouble spots. AND, since it is made from the fiberboard stuff, it blends pretty well with the omnipresent stonelined classic cup.
