.562 vs .564 slides

Hello! I've got a couple old Reynolds Bass trombones that I love, but with one caveat: the slides are really heavy. I'm considering trying to have a custom carbon fiber outer slide made from Butler trombones, but Reynolds basses supposedly have .564 bore slides. My question is this: How different is .564 vs .562 really? Has anyone ever put a .562 outer on a .564 inner? Are they that different? Is it just some kind of difference in measuring techniques? How big a difference can 2 thousandths possibly make? On a semi related note; anybody ever replace their .522 bore Conn inners with more common .525 inners? Did it work?

If you talk to Butler about it I’m sure he can help and can custom make a carbon outer for you. I’m guessing you’re gonna have to send in the slide but he does custom work consistently

Outer slide dimensions are based on fitting the stockings, not the bore size.

Fine to use as the .562 standard....I've done it...Edwards outer on Reynolds inner.
