I just have come across a website called “Trombonetools”, is there any opinions on Mr. David Vining? Just wondering. I like his “Viral Routine” for coming back, just wondered if his books are a good deal?

He's a good teacher - there's some good info in his books as well

He gave a very nice lecture at the ITF a couple of days ago. I found it to be a very well thought out approach to breathing on a brass instrument. He's very good in person too - approachable, and funny at times. Not a pedantic, boring event at all.

His breathing book is absolutely incredible. I highly recommend it and have found it very helpful. He approaches breathing from an anatomical informed perspective and it’s laid out very well. Digestible, but with great depth.

David has his personal website that tells his story of dystonia: https://davidvining.com/

Here’s his publishing company: https://www.mountainpeakmusic.com/

I too like the Breathing Book. Helpful, informative, based on anatomy and physiology.

He's a great teacher. He dealt with some serious focal dystonia issues with Jan Kagarice and he incorporates that into what he teaches.

I really like his Daily Routines and his Daily Routines for Students. As someone who is working through chop issues, he is a personal inspiration for me. Plus, as CalgaryBone (Jim Scott) noted, he is a good person.

His books and his publishing company are fantastic. His Daily Routines has been predominant fundamental material for me for 10 years.

I really like his daily routines. They are more fun than the Remington book.

I have his range studies book. Each progressive etude reaches 1/2 step further. Also I learned recently that one of my friends studied with him a few decades ago.

Mmmmm… maybe I’ll get this and work through it for a while before tackling Maxted.
