opportunities in/near Jonestown (Austin) TX

The son (23 years old) of good friends in Jonestown is now playing his trombone, the first time since his high school days. They are new to the area. Can anyone give me recommendations for private teachers as well as community bands he could join?

Austin has a fairly large "street" band community. One entry to that scene is through Blowcomotion, a band for beginners, intermediates, and returners to get their feet wet again. It is a *lot* of fun and anybody can join!

You just missed HONK!TX in Austin at the end of March, but it will roll back around next year.
