Is this a Silverstone or a Silversonic?

Post by Patthebaker727 »

Got an opportunity for a crazy asking price on this horn, but the catch is I have to drive 1 hour+

I don't want to go asking a bunch of questions because I don't think the seller knows what they have. I asked for more pictures, and am waiting for them to get back with me.

In the meantime, is this what I think it is? Silvertone/sonic? Did either come with a gold/brass plated slide as opposed to all silver? I'm thinking the slide might be replaced unless yall concur otherwise.

I know this is limited information, but it's all I have at the moment. I can update as I get more pictures. But I'm mainly worried about the slide not being silver, again, unless specified by you guys otherwise. Thanks! [

I would assume it's a silversonic. The slides were the "normal" lacquer color for the time (orange or clear, this is an orangey) until the SGX in like the late '90s.

That's what I'm thinking, too. I wouldn't jump in without more info from the seller.

Likely it is in the original case, which is what King used for the Tempo. Looking at the condition, I would think the value is $200. max.

Of course when I think I have my IDs down there's one I haven't been personalized with.

After looking around it's probably a tempo, but I'll see after I get pictures. Thanks you guys.

Pretty devious.
How about you just deal honestly with the seller ?

It’s a Tempo. No doubt about it.

A Tempo might be interesting if it isn’t beat up.

Because I can't fork out hundreds/thousands of dollars for a sonic and I'd like to own one?

Does this justify being devious?

Maybe you "fork out" some money for fuel and find out what it is...

If you want a backup for your 6H, pick up the trombone (Tempo?) for $150-$200, get a tech to refresh it, and enjoy playing it.
Or if you must have a SilverSonic, keep looking.
