If a T-Rex were to enter a trombone solo competition (on alto, of course) what piece or pieces would he or she select?

I already have two choices, but I'll wait.

"One Note Samba", but omitting the bridge.

True, that would be a bridge too far.

Hope you are well!

I am assuming that the T-Rex competitors are playing alto trombones because of their short arms?!? In that case, would the T-Rex competitors be allowed to use hand slide extenders (like the Extendabone)?

Let’s take this one step further……. Should the T-Rex competitors be required to use specific materials for their equipment? What material would increase the chances that the instrument and the hand slide extender will show up with the T-Rex fossils one or two million years from now? Carbon Fiber? Certainly not brass!

Excuse me, this is a performance question, not an equipment question.

Thanks for understanding.

All right, I'll give you one.

He/she might play Carnivore of Venice.

Please don't hate me.

Wouldn't she play T-Rex by Mark Philips?

Or too on the nose?

Why do I feel this thread has similarities to the SNL skit when Will Ferrel played Harry Caray? At 2:51..... "It's a simple question doctor. Would you eat the moon if it were made of ribs?"

"It's a simple question everyone. What piece would the T-Rex select?"

Are there dinosaur fossils in northeastern Italy?

That's a little farther south.

If he had a 36H or something with a B-flat attachment, he could play the Wagenseil without needing to reach very far out on the slide…

But a T-Rex doesn't have lips. Or a functional brain. Or a concurrent timeline in which trombones have been invented by humans.

Trick question! Next slide.

As I've learned from the dinosaur books for my kid... Trex (and other non beaked dinosaurs) having or not having lips is a very contentious subject in paleontology circles. 😂
