I here a lot about certain artist models of Edwards instruments, but when I look on their website but the only artist model i recognize is the 502i. Could someone give me a quick rundown of all the Edwards artist models and who they are played by?

I'm sure others can help more but I know this one:

T-396 was originally the Joe Alessi model, but Joe switched to Shires and the model was renamed T-396a without the Alessi name (still the same instrument).

They changed some stuff, including the valve.

Started as 396a (had a rotax valve) then changed to 396-AR (for Artist Rotor, which is made in house). There were some other changes as well including modular leadpipes and tweaks to the harmonic brace.

Just because some one is an "Edwards Artist" does not mean that they have their own Artist model trombone. AFAIK only the T-396A "Alessi Model" had an artists name on it. The B502I was developed with a lot of input from James Markey, and the B502D was developed with a lot of input from Gerry Pagano, but I don't think they are technically "artist models".

There is the Getzen Custom 4147IB Ian Bousfield model, which is technically not an Edwards, but designed by the same people.

There's also a Toby Oft model (at least the bell has his name attached to it).

Many of the artist biographies on the Edwards website list the exact model/parts the person uses in case you are trying to replicate or something.

The only non-modular "artist" models Edwards has are the t396 and the b502, neither of which officially have an artist name tied to them at the moment.

I think it's for "Arkansas" (AR)
