Good day everyone,

two years ago i bought a Xeno - 813UG and recently googled the model number. Bit i can only find very little information about this trombone, so can anyone tell me more about it?

The YBL-813UG Is part of the YBL-613 Lineage, as far as I know. If you look up the YBL-613H, and YBL-830, they all use the same M'PIPE ASS'Y YBL813UG. I am fairly certain it's a Japan only model, so you don't see them over here very often.

It looks like it is closer to the 613H, with a G and Gb crook.

It is the predecessor of the 830. 9.5" bell, 14.30 mm bore. The main difference is gold brass bell, narrower finger valve tubing that accepts both G and Gb crook, counter-rotating finger valve (as opposed to thumb valve), and yellow brass slide crook.

The lineage of it is more difficult to trace, mainly because Yamaha's confusing numbering system. The 813UG should be the evolution of 613H, since 6 is "professional" line while 8 is "custom/Xeno" line. U indicates JDM Xeno, and Yamaha Japanese catalogue states that it is launched in 1995 at the same time as 882UG first gen tenor Xeno. However, the 613H (at least export model) also came out in 1995.

The even deeper mystery is the 8130G. It is almost, if not entirely, identical to the 613H and 813UG. However, the 4-digit numbering of it points to model year of around late 1980s to early 1990s, even before the 613H. So the 8130G is NOT an evolution of the 613H, but the other way around (at least for the export model). Parts list of the 613H also has some parts named "813", but this can also probably be because Yamaha later updated them with new part numbers.

So I think the lineage might be: 6130(G) JDM (I think I have seen once or twice) -> 8130G JDM -> 613H export -> 813UG JDM Xeno -> 830 global Xeno. The 613H JDM, if it counts as separated model from the export one, would slot in before the 613H export.

The 813UG is rare even in Japan. I have seen many 613H and 830 in Yahoo Auction site, but only 1 or 2 813UG and 8130G.

It is an evolution of the 613 (no H)
The 613 had the same valve section, but came standard with either yellow, gold or red 10" bell. The slide was all yellow, but with drawn stockings.
