Hi all, WARNING:

I tried to buy a bass trombone mute, and someone i've never heard of me reached out with multiple names & multiple emails. It didn't align, so I looked up some of the emails he threw out and turns he's already been banned from Tuba-chat with the email he reached out to me with:

He goes by many names and many emails, here are the ones that I caught:

James Thomas

Bob Weller has already found this guy. Glad he ignored him as well. I don't think he's a member -- I remember trying to look him up without success.

He's also attempted to scam users on Trumpet Herald. He isn't very good at it.

I've had one come through from the rochelle one saying that due to cancer treatment they are looking to offload trombone/parts.

I can only assume that whoever it is has joined here and is targeting any personal emails that are on display.

Trying to make us feel bad about their cancer, so that we are more inclined to help "buy" their parts. Sad, disturbing.

Well if nothing else it was short and succint unlike the other scams which give you a life story and are just giving large amount of their fortune away...

But yes disturbing indeed! I did send a reply but no reply as yet...

I got hit by "James Thomas" @ [email protected] too. You have to be very, very careful with WTB ads on this website!

Got this as well. Asked for pics of a supposed benge 190 he "has" and it was photos taken from listings on this forum.

Photos take from this listing

I also received an email in my spam folder. Should we removing our email addresses from our profiles?

Supposedly your e-mail is only visible to people with two approved posts. I removed the only one I could find, and that profile had zero approved posts although the e-mail did send messages to some members. If we can find the real e-mail and/or user name for the person I can remove them from the member list so they can't find any more e-mails.

Here's his full list of instruments he's trying to scam people with... I really hope no one gets taken... what a P.O.S. Human. He emailed my shop directly claiming health issues and looking for a fast sale... my spidey sense was off immediately but I asked for a few photos and recognized many of these horns from TC classifieds. Be careful out there, Caveat Emptor

I called him/her out and subsequently told them where to go. For some strange reason I never got a reply...
