Always been interested in doubling myself, ever since I found out that one isn't really "locked in" or "stuck" on whatever they play.
Who are some of your favorite, or day I say, best-of-all-time, trumpet/trombone doublers? Could be sound overall, technique, improv style, you name it. Of course any other doubling is welcome.

James Morrison

Wycliffe Gordon (though he sounds like a trombone player playing trumpet)

Cheers,
Andy

Dan Barrett doubles on cornet and trombone-- often on the same albums.

Gene Roland. Also played piano, saxophone, and mellophonium (in Kenton's band) in addition to composing and arranging.

My favourite doublers on trumpet(cornet)/trombone were great mates:

Dan Barrett
Also a superb arranger.

Tom Baker (unfortunately and sadly for Australia, now gone for sixteen years)
Tom was originally a trumpet player but also excelled at the saxophone, the clarinet and the bass tuba. In fact, the trombone was the last passion in his life and I thought he was an absolute knock out!

I first came across Tom in the late 1980s and he helped to forge my regained interest in playing jazz trombone. I used to go to see his band at the Strawberry Hill Hotel in Sydney on a regular basis.

He often toured Europe with his old mate Dan Barrett:
