Cork Barrel attachment point

I hope I'm using the right term. I'm talking the part of the handslide that holds onto the inner slide, and the outer slide goes into slightly.
The balance point on my horn is on the cork barrel. Is there anything risky about attaching something to that point? I don't want to damage a very good slide.

A short peg off the bottom, that will drop into a hole on the support bar.

Look carefully at what you are trying to do. The cork barrel is not designed to take a lot of force and you can easily force a misalignment of the lower inner slide tube or worse.
I think there are better places to put your peg and transfer the effective attach point to where you are considering.

The ergobone attaches there.
It does contain the center of balance for any nose heavy horn.
it would be possible to shift the center of balance to the gooseneck instead, with sufficient counterweight. That gooseneck tubing looks thinner than the cork barrel though.
