I'm thinking of getting a new mpc. What are your thoughts on Giddings mouthpieces?

Going off the recent thread involving Giddings (now locked I believe) you may not get the answers you seek!

My experience with Giddings mouthpieces (the hardware, not the company) has been that they have uncomfortable rims and kind of an "on rails" feel. I really don't like them.

There are great pros who swear by them, I think it's just a matter of preference.

I only play Australian mouthpieces. I wouldn't want any American mouthpieces coming into my country, taking Australian jobs

I'll stay away from value judgments and politics. Speaking only about the mouthpieces, some of the Giddings small-bore mouthpieces are very nice. [I've only purchased mine used.] I really like the Chubasco a lot. I also stumbled on a prototype "Elliot Mason" piece that's quite nice, but apparently never released commercially. [Ivan looked at it, and told me that Elliott had "gone in a different direction."]

Some of the large-bore pieces are interesting, and very functional, but a little "different" than what you may be familiar with. I like the feel and sound of stainless steel (as well as a custom-made titanium from the collection of a deceased friend). Your taste may differ. Some of the Giddings large-shank pieces have throats that are too large for me, but I'm not a working pro. Excellent workmanship. Should last a lifetime. Try before you buy, or be willing to re-sell if you don't like.

Assuming you're not trolling they won't work well with your Conn's unless you're Bob Sanders. Even then he plays his Giddings on a Greenhoe nowadays.
