Hello everyone.
Which Greg black mouthpiece is most similar to Schilke51 in rim, depth and sound.
Thank you

Probably a 5G, and to get even closer, a 5G with a custom .277 throat.

But...if you like a Schilke 51, play a Schilke 51.

If I may!

I have a few mouthpieces around to compare directly. Greg Black 5G and the .277 throat 5G don't feel like the Shilke 51D. They feel a little tighter to my face? I find that the Shires New Vintage 4G or Classic 5MD are much more comparable. Also the Greigo-Alessi 6f and 7f have a similar feel more so that the Greg Black pieces do.

Hope any of this is helpful

Big fan of the Schilke 51 here. I played around with 5g-sized pieces for a while and finally settled on an Ultimate Brass 5.1. The rim is a tad wider and not as sharp, but I like that. To me, it feels and sounds like a Schilke 51 brought into modern times. After all the searching, however, I think Gabe is right. Hard to find something that really feels like a true 51.

Partly because 51's are not very near the listed specs. They're usually a lot bigger. So if you're comparing to something with the same specs it's probably completely different.

I enjoy the sound and character of the Schilke 51, but what an awful rim design. Inner rim is incredibly sharp and cuts into the chops.

There are those who can modify the rim of your Schilke 51, which will change the feel on your face while keeping the sonic character of the piece intact...
